Mass was scheduled for Thursday, January 7, and members of the class of 2020 would have been able to join us virtually. After the Celebration of the Mass, we had planned to share a video that we produced, with advice and tips for a student's first year of college. As luck may have it, Thursday ended up being a virtual learning day for our students and Mass was cancelled.

1. have at least 50% of their student body in the yearbook at least three times- last year IWA had 100%
2. sell yearbooks to at least 70% of their student body or increase their sales 5% over the previous year.
3. meet all Josten's deadlines- IWA was six weeks ahead of our deadlines
 
Most of the credit goes to the 17-18 yearbook staff, most notably GiGi Haman '18, the editor in chief. (Gigi Haman '18 is shown below left, while Mr. Villmer and the Josten's rep, Trent Schauster, are shown below right.)

Ms. Baer will assume her new position on March 26, 2018.

 Ms. Baer returns to the Academy with a great wealth of experience. She has served the last 5 years as a counselor at Marygrove, a therapeutic and residential treatment program for children and young adults. Ms. Baer earned her undergraduate degree from Purdue University and her graduate degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. 

  “I was fortunate to attend IWA, and have enjoyed continuing to be part of a community that makes you feel welcomed, at home, and involved – no matter how long you’ve been away. I look forward to returning in a professional capacity and being part of what I know is an incredible team at Incarnate Word Academy!”

]]> Tue, 13 Feb 2018 13:39:09 GMT IWA's First-Ever Color Run is a Win for Earthquake Relief. https://iwacademy.site-ym.com/news/news.asp?id=384367 https://iwacademy.site-ym.com/news/news.asp?id=384367 The first official event to kick off Mission Week 2018 was IWA's first-ever "Color Run." After a delicious pancake breakfast from Chris' Cakes, runners donned their specially-designed T-shirts and hit the course for some fun in the unseasonably warm weather (see video below).

All proceeds from the Color Run, and all other Mission Week activities, go to aid the CCVI ministries in Mexico as they assist in the recovery from the devastating 8.2-magnitude earthquake that struck on 7 September, 2017, killing 98 and affecting more than 1.5 million people.
