ACA Essay Contest Winners

On December 7, 2021, Mackenzie Pegg ’23, Victoria Garcia '23, and Camille Moore ’23 were honored as winners in the Archdiocese of Saint Louis Annual Catholic Appeal Essay Contest at a special reception at the Cardinal Rigali Center. Their essays on the importance of stewardship and support of the ACA were selected as exemplary, and each will receive a scholarship from the Annual Catholic Appeal.

Students Honor Teachers With Caring Hands Awards

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Caring Hands Mass and Awards Ceremony was held at Incarnate Word Academy. The Caring Hands Award allows any IWA freshman to recognize a teacher who has made a positive impact on her life. These teachers are then invited to a mass and reception at IWA, where they receive a special certificate and take advantage of the opportunity to spend some time with their former students.

IWA Yearly Theme Announced: "Promote Human Dignity"

Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word Celebrate Their Feast Day!

Dear IWA Community-

March 25th is the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word’s feast day. During this current year, the Sisters have been celebrating their sesquicentennial anniversary, the 150th year of establishing their order in the United States. We are fortunate to still abide by their mission, which is also part of IWA’s mission. We emphasize “following the example of Jesus and promoting human dignity.”

When students arrive freshman year, they are immediately immersed into becoming Women of the Word. Their faith is strengthened by four years of theology. Academically, students grow into their scholastics by critically analyzing and always advancing their studies, preparing them for successful futures. Students’ leadership skills have been honed to perfection. The sisterhood of friendships during their four years at IWA, remain beyond the birth and marriages of their own children. As students select their universities and eventually their occupations, they also are acutely aware of addressing local and global concerns.

IWA flourishes because the Sisters had a vision, and that vision has lasted for 150 years. Please take a moment to say an extra prayer today for the continuation of the mission and core beliefs of Incarnate Word Academy. Students, alumnae, faculty, staff and administration:
- To follow the example of Jesus
- To foster academically successful women
- To promote human dignity
- To empower and challenge young women
- To make a positive impact on our world

A Saturday of Service at the St. Louis Area Foodbank

On Saturday, September 22, 2018, 24 members of the IWA community (students, faculty, and family members) gathered together to donate their time and energy to fighting hunger. They helped keep food moving out of the Foodbank warehouse and out into the community by repackaging 6.5 tons of cereal. When all was said and done, IWA helped to provide 10,604 meals for the hungry!

Prayer at Peace Pole Concludes Founder's Day Mass

The entire IWA community gathered around our Peace Pole for a special prayer to honor those who lost their lives on 9-11. This ceremony concluded the annual Spirit Week tradition of Founder's Day mass.

The Mission Model program recognizes students from each grade level and a faculty or staff member who demonstrate Incarnate Word Academy's mission in specific ways. Anyone at IWA may nominate a person by submitting a name and reasons for considering this award. The Mission Committee discusses all nominations and submits to the Administration the names of five persons who are then approved, honored and recognized at a liturgy or all-school assembly.

Geneace Adams ’18 wins the Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. "Model of Justice" Award.

Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of St. Louis, celebrated the annual Mass for the Preservation of Peace and Justice at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, the day before the observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Father Arthur Cavitt, Executive Director of the Archdiocese of St. Louis’ St. Charles Lwanga Center, a Catholic ministry rooted in the African-American community, delivered the homily. This marks the archdiocese’s 42nd annual commemoration of the birth and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.

A reception and awards presentation ceremony for the 11th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Model of Justice Honorees took place in Boland Hall after Mass. Senior Geneace Adams was Incarnate Word Academy’s recipient of the award. Hannah Moll '15, received this honor in 2015 and was invited to be the keynote speaker at this year's awards ceremony. Hannah said that her award had led her to pursue her present studies in peace and justice. She is now a junior at St. Louis University. IWA is very proud of these two Women of the WORD!
