The University of the Incarnate Word & IWA Announce New Scholarships

Thursday, November 11, 2021

On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, and Incarnate Word Academy officially launched a partnership with two new opportunities for their respective school communities. UIW is offering an amazing opportunity for three graduating IWA seniors to attend UIW on a $25,000/year scholarship that is renewable for four years. These scholarships will be offered every year, starting with the Class of 2022. In addition, the University is offering a discounted continuing education opportunity for IWA faculty and staff members and their dependents.

UIW’s president, Dr. Thomas Evans, announced these fantastic new opportunities during an all all-school assembly. After his remarks, Dr. Evans and Sharon Gerken ’78, IWA’s president, signed the official agreement. Afterwards, Dr. Evans and Sr. Kathleen Coughlin, CCVI ’59, UIW’s Senior Advisor to the President for Special Gifts & Sponsored Ministries, shared breakfast with a group of IWA students and toured the campus.

“This magnificent new scholarship program has the potential to change the lives of our Women of the Word,” Sharon Gerken commented. “We are thrilled to partner with another CCVI Sponsored Ministry to further the mission of the Sisters, UIW, and Incarnate Word Academy.”
