Senior winger Peyton Hill said two extremely rare regular-season losses made the Red Knights better.
"A big lesson," Hill said.
It was a lesson well learned.
Hill pumped in a game-high 20 points and fellow senior Nevaeh Caffey chipped in with 19 to lead IWA to a 84-68 win over Lutheran St. Charles on Tuesday in the Class 6 District 3 girls basketball championship game in southern Bel-Nor.
The Red Knights (26-2) have won 14 in a row and will host Troy Buchanan (23-6) in a quarterfinal game Saturday afternoon at a location to be determined.
Incarnate Word, which has won seven successive state championships, will be looking for its 15th successive final four berth.
